Scandi Style Bleached Oak Kitchen

When our customers moved into this extended home, they were enchanted by the look of the timber kitchen they had inherited from the previous owners.

As time went by, they purchased a dining table, chairs and a sideboard to complement the colour of the wood used in the kitchen cabinetry. However, over time, they also started to realise, that the layout of the kitchen wasn’t quite working for them. The cabinetry did not provide sufficient storage, and the quality of installation was flawed.

So, unusually, the brief was to deliver a kitchen design using very similar colours of timber as the previous one. The floor had to be retained, and the island had to fit within the decorative border already in place. The couple wanted to introduce more storage solutions into the new kitchen, as well as, importantly, a new wine cabinet.

The biggest challenge was finding the correct doors and components in the right finish. In the end we identified a manufacturer who was able to stain oak doors and components in the correct shade.

We designed tall storage units either side of the freestanding American-style fridge/freezer, as well as a tall double pantry cabinet. This task was made more difficult due to the different ceiling heights. The worktop area by the window was extended to incorporate a new drinks area. This new space created the perfect spot for their bean-to-cup coffee maker and, of course, their new wine cabinet.

Most of the appliances used in this kitchen, as well as the island worktop, were re-purposed from the previous kitchen. The final result is a much-improved space for food and drink preparation. It is also a perfect space for socialising with friends and family, whilst still resembling the original kitchen.
