When our customer moved into their new home, the kitchen was in desperate need of refurbishment. Not only was it looking very tired, but it didn’t really function properly as a kitchen. Our brief, therefore, was to create a modern, sleek kitchen with an ergonomic layout. We needed to make it feel welcoming and homely, whilst being easy to use.
The customer opted for handleless slab doors in two different colours. The bottom cabinets are in Reed Green, whilst the top cabinets are in Porcelain. To compliment the sleek feel of the room, we went for a White Nova quartz worktop with Sparkle from Königstone.
Breakfast Bar
We built a small peninsula near the entrance to the kitchen, allowing us to incorporate a little extra storage space. It also allowed us to add a small breakfast bar with seating for two people. Breakfast bars are a great addition to any kitchen as they create a much more sociable space. Guests can sit, chat and share a glass of wine or a cup of tea whilst the host is preparing food.
Part of the brief was to integrate a very awkwardly placed pillar opposite the peninsula. We designed a unit to minimise the impact of the pillar and hide the various water pipes and stop cock that were visible. To maximise the use of the small space that we had created we installed a small wine cooler along with some open shelving. The new convenient shelving provides a place for a smart speaker and other ornamental items.
Our entire trades team was involved in building this new kitchen, starting with the removal of the old kitchen. Part of this process involved disconnecting the gas supply to the old hob and tidying up the messy plumbing. Once the old kitchen was removed, it was then the turn of the electricians to run all the necessary feeds. The plasters then finished off the walls before the flooring could be laid down. And finally, the kitchen fitting team began installing the bespoke kitchen furniture and appliances.
