We were originally approached by our customers as they wanted to update the look of their old kitchen. As their old cabinets were in good, usable condition, they asked us if we could simply fit new doors. They were happy with the layout of the old kitchen, so there was no need for a complete kitchen makeover.
Like we do on every project, the design team had a discussion with the customers about their desires for their new kitchen. They came to the conclusion that we could indeed re-use most of their old cabinets. However, we also needed to introduce some additional new wall units to maximise the storage potential of the new kitchen.
The colours and finishes of the new kitchen were selected to complement the rest of their beautiful modern home. They opted for a solid timber, shaker style range, painted in a classic Stone colour. And to provide interest and compliment the décor, they chose a Königstone Dakota quartz worktop.
The quartz has a shimmer within its surface which comes alive under the cabinet lights. So, it seemed fitting that we should use it as a splashback behind the hob and to replace the windowsill.
Boiling Water on Tap
The Quooker tap in Patinated Brass was a definite “must have”, adding a perfect balance to the overall colour scheme. Quooker taps come with several key benefits. Having instant boiling water on tap is extremely convenient not only for making hot drinks, but also for cooking.
Quooker taps are also a lot more energy efficient than kettles, using on average 50% less energy than kettles. And, unlike kettles, there is no wastage as you only use the amount of water that you need. Another benefit is that they negate the need for a kettle, decluttering your kitchen and gaining you valuable worktop space.
A Team of Skilled Tradesmen
The customers also agreed to update the flooring in the new kitchen. They selected LVT flooring (Luxury Vinyl Tiles) to complement the neutral hues and textures of the room.
Our trades team removed the old kitchen furniture, appliances and wall tiles, leaving the cabinetry that was to stay. We then needed to plaster the walls to ensure they were smooth. Once this was done, the electrical team ensured that there were sufficient power points for all the appliances. This included the fitting of a new electrical socket under the sink to power the new Quooker tap.
Finally, the floor preparation took place, before our kitchen fitters could instal the new furniture and appliances. The result is a stylish new kitchen which will look beautiful for many years to come.
